101 Rubber Chickens
A CREATIVE NEW FUND RAISER!

In July of 2006, I was stranded in San Francisco, California over night because my car ran out of gas.  As my fiance and I sat there, waiting for the gas station to open, I saw a homeless man sitting on a bench alone.  I wasn't a rich man and I've always been skeptical about giving homeless people cash, so created a way to bring homeless people aid through a project I called 101 Rubber Chickens.  The idea was to make a video using a rubber chicken, then sell it on eBay to raise money to buy more rubber chickens.  I would then use THOSE rubber chickens in my videos and sell them back to buy even more rubber chickens, until I'd baught a total of 101 rubber chickens.  The money raised from all the sales of the rubber chickens was going to go towards a big donation for San Francisco's homeless shelters.

2 rubber chickens sold for over $300 a each!  The first was purchased by AuctionGab.com
and the second was purchased by a kind hearted eBay'er named Blueeyedgrl79

Unfortunately, a small group of internet users decided to launch an attack on my name due to my popularity on YouTube, so they could gain attention for themselves.  They publicly accused my idea of being a scam and threatened to have my charity idea reviewed by the authorities.  I wasn't afraid of the publicity that this group of people were putting on about this subject, but after speaking with local law enforcement, they advised that I shouldn't call this idea a charity (due to the many legal procedures I'd have to go through).  Instead, I should call it a fund raiser.

My financial situation has changed since then and I've also thought about who I was giving this money to and how it would be dispersed.  I began thinking about the old saying "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, feed him for a life time." which made me change my plans on who to really help.

So this fund raiser has now been changed to a gift giving fund raiser.  Instead of giving money to homeless shelters, I have decided to use the money, to buy rubber chickens for children in low income families.

Why would I buy rubber chickens for children?

Because I have seen these rubber chickens put smiles on the faces of many kids.  Smiles that will help children improve their moods and improve their social behavior.  A child who smiles is a child who learns.  More importantly, this gesture could very well inspire the parents to find new ways to better themselves and their families.  If I was able to raise this much money without having any of my own, then there is hope.  Love, creativity, and motivation is the key to living a better, happier life.
